Mather Dance Center
The First 100 Years
January 2008 marked the centennial of Mather Dance Center (formerly Mather Gymnasium)
for which there are a number of events to mark the auspicious milestone!
During the Centennial Week (February 4-9, 2008) there classes, lecture, and
performances marking this auspicious miletone!
Built in 1908 for $45,000, the building originally served the Flora Stone Mather College
by replacing the attic of Clark Hall as the gymnasium. In the 1970's,
the building
was converted to the current dance center with the studio theater being outfitted
according to the designs of Henry Kurth.

Master Classes
Several master classes will be offered through out the Centennial Week.
These classes are free and open to the public. All classes are held at
Mather Dance Center on the campus of Case Western Reserve University.

Gala Performances
The Centennial Gala Perforamnces features over 50 dancers performing in fifteen
alumni and guest artists works. Advance purchase is highly recommended for
the only two performances.
