25th Anniversary Ohio Dance Festival

October 18-20, 2001

Collections

November 8-10, 8:00pm

Collection of works by internationally recognized choreographers. "Trio for One", a piece choreographed by Lyndon Branaugh of The Place in London, is set to music by Vangelis.  Kimberly Karpanty and Tommy Parlon, dance faculty members at Kent State University, will also be special guests on the program, performing their dance "...in the cold," set to excerpts from String Quartet #2 by Henryk Gorecki.  Other works on the program include: "G Song," choreographed by Gary Galbraith, set to music of the same name by Terry Riley.  "Narayama," a dance to Felix Mendelssohn's concerto in A minor for piano and strings, choreographed by Pascal Rioult, former principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company and founder of the Pascal Rioult Dance Theatre.  "Aftershot," a dance to the second movement of Mozart's concerto No. 21 in D major, choreographed by Richard Dickinson, director of Great Lakes Ballet, former ballet master for Ohio Ballet.  "Labyrinth," choreographed by Diane Gray, former associate artistic director and principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company, will also be included.

African Drum and Dance Festival Class

October 5, 2001

In conjunction with the African Drum and Dance Festival hosted by the Cleveland Museum of Art, Senegal native Pap Djotta teaches experienced dancers during this master class.
