Dance Department announces Guest Artist-in-Residence Nai-Ni Chen

The dance department’s 2017 fall concert Vistas will feature Bamboo Prayer, choreographed by Nai-Ni Chen. This work for 5 women was originally choreographed for her New Jersey-based company Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, founded in 1988.

Ms. Chen’s work has been presented by some of the most prestigious concert halls in the US, including the Joyce Theater and the Cerritos Center. Her company has mounted twenty national tours and seven international tours. Ms. Chen was a renowned traditional dancer in Taiwan, dancing with Cloud Gate Dance Theater before coming to the U.S. Her repertory reflects this multi-cultural heritage, from dances that originated thousands of years ago to highly abstract, modern works

The department will host Nai-Ni Chen for a week of intensive rehearsals this September, as well as a master class on Friday, 9/16.
